Toast & Roast | SS2

So after another long hiatus, I am back. With so many food posts in line I don't know how I can get them all up before they become outdated.

Here's one at a kopitiam.

Ever since I've moved over to west Malaysia, I haven't been very impressed with the hawker foods here. Most of them are bland and uninteresting. And not to mention the overuse of sweet soy sauce - which I do not favour at all. The famous wanton mee is something that I really cannot understand.

But, boy am I glad to have stumbled upon this place. Normally, I wouldn't write a blog post to review a place that I've only been to once. This is an exception. I am quite the excited to write about this place.

Before I proceed any further, I'd like to first apologise on the lack of pictures taken for this post as I was almost dying of hunger.

Ok..

I've heard that this place serve the best char siew, ever.

RM11 - Small

Is it the best? Maybe. It is a very beautiful char siew indeed. The pork is so Grade A. Not too much fats and not consisting of only lean meat. Succulent and very soft like butter.

The only downside would be that the glaze is so sticky that it stick onto your teeth. It's kinda like eating hardened sugar. But very yummy nonetheless.

I love having mine dipped in their blended chilli sauce - which I did not take a photo of. I am so not please with myself right now. You know what, when I go back again I will take more photos of all the things that I forgot to and edit this post again. Be sure to come back!

RM7 - Hakka noodles with minced meat

This is way better than any wanton mee in west Malaysia. The noodles are springy and tasty. Minced meat nicely seasoned. And the little bits of deep fried pork lard are just.... Let's just say that it makes non-Christians want to say grace. A bowl of perfection right here.

Although, I'd like to point out that hakka noodles back in east Malaysia tastes and looks nothing like this. It's a completely different dish altogether.


Toast & Roast also serve other yummy noms (I presume that they are seeing how flooded the kopitiam was when I visited. You can have their tasty rice if you do not want to eat noodle. Other than that, there is also siew yok - crispy three layer pork. And other small bites and main dishes. I ought to go back very soon.
